I believe it is essential to talk about meanings.
From a linguistic point of view, I believe it makes no sense to address any subject unless an agreement has first been reached on the meanings of words.
This is a reasonable necessity if we hope, in sharing, to be able to fully understand one another’s thoughts — whether we end up sharing them or not, but with the certainty of having understood each other.
